Handle with care...

Good question Kimberly.
The only way to get this kind of stain out is to use some kind of solvent such as Goof-Off, Goo-Be-Gone, Greased Lighting, Woops, or perhaps fingernail polish remover. You just have to be careful as these cleaners are corrosive and can eat the backing of your carpet, if you saturate the carpet. So, pour a small amount first, try alternating scraping with a sharp edged tool and rubbing with a towel. Then to insure that you don't get too much solvent in the carpet, if the stain is stubborn, re-apply the solvent by pouring it on the towel then rubbing it on the carpet. You may need to call a professional. Good luck!
